Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer Nice! What do you pull it with? What is tongue weight?
|
Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer I pull it with my 2010 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 V8 310HP my car weighs 2500 and my trailer weighs 2500 so 5000 total weight. When I first got it was just bare plywood inside.

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer Henry would be more pround if you drove it there.........

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer Very nice!!!! Nice to have money.................

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer I don't have alot of money but I did all the inside myself.....Yes henry would be proud if I drove it there but I want to keep the miles low and baby her for as long as I can. You see I use the trailer to transport to areas where I can drive around. I also bring my trailer to car shows and alow people to walk through it. They can learn more about the model a by all the pictures and advertisments and on long tours with the club we can pick up a stranded A and help them out. In the night time we then can turn on all the inside lights and fix that A for the next part of the tour. Its like a Garage/Clubhouse on wheels.
|
Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer I am wondering if Henry would be proud of you hauling the car around and taking pictures of it. He built them to drive. It is a beauty and you keep on A'ing your way eh!

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer This year I put over 1000 miles on my A...But im saying when I want to go to the Mountains or other far away places I use the trailer to get there....Im not going to drive my A across 500 miles of boring praries or 2000 miles to Alaska. The Hiways can be very Dangerous for slow moving A's and I would feel safer towing it down the interstate than driving with all the crazy people doing 100mph in a 35 zone. A friend of mine got hit with a rock from a semi truck and it went right through his rad....cost him over $1000.00 to get towed home. and $700 for a new rad. When I hiway it I will trailer it.

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer Well at least ryan1929 has his car out on the road. How many have their A's as a museum piece and hasn't seen sunlight for 5 or 6 years? Everybody's idea of A'ing is different and if this is what's comfortable for ryan1929, good for him.

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer You know Ryan1929, that there tailor could retrieve a boodle of swap meet parts too!
|
Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer Just for those that are using Ryan's trailer to dream about your own, ...down in the south that trailer would have issues with the non-insulated roof during humid times. I have known of several hobbyists who purchased a similarly outfitted trailer that was sans any roof insulation, and just the heating and cooling of the roof's sheetmetal causes it to "rain" inside on the car.
|
Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer Nice trailer and well done. I don't blame you for using the trailer for highway travel and going long distances. I agree that Henry built them to drive but he didn't design them for the super highways of today. I am like you and would much better trailer myu baby on the interstates.

Nice Ryan ...... Ryan,
Nice touches on your trailer ..... Looks good ;) Jim |
Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer i'm not Henry but i'm proud of you, nice interior.

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer Quote:
I purchased the 20ft trailer in order to attend national meets that we didn't have the time to drive to. I now average 5-6000 miles per year. When we trailered from cold Ontario to the St Augustine meet last March, upon arrival, I discovered the "rain" from condensation had left lovely little spots that ate through my new paint that just will not come out. I'll never forgive my trailer for that! I much prefer to drive the "A". https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictur...ictureid=11832 |
Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer I find it interesting about the "rain forest" inside the trailer. Would you install the semi-rigid insulation panels to the roof with adhesive?

Vents .... Quote:

If I keep the trailer, I will install side vents. |
Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer My trailer was just bare plywood inside when I got it as well....I little bit of time to prime the whole thing then paint about $200 at home depot. Then I searched all over for Pictures and signs and other model a related material. I then had it all Laminated at a copy center....pictures + Lamanation about $300. It just takes some thought time and effort. Im not done with it yet Trust me. I have a spare tire cover comming for my wal mounted tire that has a picture of henry Ford on it. I also have a life size stand up of a 29 Sedan that im going to put up in the front... The trailer with the extra 1 foot added to the roof only cost about $8000 and then I had to buy a new pick-up no way my Escape was going to pull that. But I now have a payment plan with herry's family for the next 3 years and a wife to deal with...HELP
