Flathead Cam ID please! 2 Attachment(s)
I have a 59ab out of a 47 Ford coupe. The car was purchased in Texas in the late 70s early 80s by my cousin while in the Air Force. He drove the car a TON! From Mississippi to Missouri on a regular basis. After shelling the trans he sold the car to his brother who put a 302 c4 combo in it. He gave us the motor. When we pulled the heads we noticed the pistons were marked STD so they were obviously replace... further looking found the motor had been ported relieved and stroked with a merc 4 inch crank adjustable lifters with the lifter boss drilled for ease of adjustment and an aluminum timing gear! When we fired it up it ran amazing!!! The cam is far from stock!! Lopey! Runs super strong and revs faster than most smallblocks! The cams marked with a -T on one side and a F and what appears to be a 40 in a circle on the other... any help would be awesome! Here is a pic.

Re: Flathead Cam ID please! The T is normal on cams. Don't know F-40, but Weber had an F-4 grind. How much lift on the cam?
|
Re: Flathead Cam ID please! Yeah closer i look i can see the 5 before the -T which is the stock ford numbers... I have the heads on the motor its a running motor and i really dont want to break it open again...

Re: Flathead Cam ID please! You could check the lift of one valve by pulling the spark plug and using a dial indicator through the plug hole.

Re: Flathead Cam ID please! I went and tried and it seemed to move between .310-.320. It sounds bigger than the 400jrs ive heard on youtube... maybe it has big duration... I dont know... all i do know is it runs strong! It out runs my dads 29 coupe and it has a 302!!!

Re: Flathead Cam ID please! A Weber F-4 has .340 lift, so if you deduct the initial clearance, you'd about have it.

Re: Flathead Cam ID please! I checked again and it is right at .320... All i know is it runs great!
