Doing a search on Craigslist? I thought there was some way to do a search for the entire U.S. or at least the entire state. All I can seem to do is search by the city.
Does anyone know how to search the entire country on Craigslist? Thanks |
Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? Tom. When you open craigslist, look in the upper left corner where it says CRAIGSLIST in large letters and double click on it. It opens to a complete page of states and cities. Mark.

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? go to www.searchtempest.com it will allow you to enter your zip code and a radius from there that you would like to search. Great tool!!!! and very addictive i might add...

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist?
Tom, With Google: 1. Search within a specific website. Google allows you to specify that your search results must come from a given website. For example, the query [ iraq site:nytimes.com ] will return pages about Iraq but only from nytimes.com. NOTE: The simpler queries [ iraq nytimes.com ] or [ iraq New York Times ] will usually be just as good, though they might return results from other sites that mention the New York Times. You can also specify a whole class of sites, for example [ iraq site:.gov ] will return results only from a .gov domain and [ iraq site:.iq ] will return results only from Iraqi sites. Might take some experimenting to get correct combination of words. 2. You can use this to search ANY domain i.e. Fordbarn.com as an example. |

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? I have tried without success to search for "model A" or "model A Ford", but I get lots of modern cars and parts. Ever since Craigslist decided to not allow searching for common terms like a, the, etc. I have to sift through a lot of search items to find model A stuff. I tried bobv's idea, but I still get all the modern car stuff. Has anyone figured out how to just get "model A" items, without all the other stuff?

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? try: typing model a in the for sale search window. After you get the results check off "title only" instead of "entire post", run search again and that should narrow it down a lot

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? I use "site:craigslist.org" on Google, Bing etc. then add what you're looking for. IE "site:craigslist.org 1931 Ford Door" or whatever it is you're hunting.
I used craigslook for the longest time until they shut the site down. It was 100X better than searchtempest. |

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? Since you can't use a common term, such as the "a" in model a- search for "1929 ford" instead you may have to do multiple searches for whatever year you are looking for but it works for me. Just my $0.02.....

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? Try this one: http://craigzoom.com/ Very user-friendly, can sort by city or region within each state. I've used it a lot.

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? I've used CLAZ.org.

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? Using Google you can search within any site for anything you want. This is worth learning.
Type this in google: "model a" site:craigslist.org The quotes forces google to look for the phrase “model a” and not separate words “model” and “a”. The word “site” forces google to look for your phrase only at the site chosen. Other examples: "model a" site:history.com (searches the history channel for Model A information) "Assembly Plants" site: plucks329s.org (searches Steve’s site for information on assembly plants) "Taxi Cab" site:fordgarage.com (Searches Vince Falter’s site for Taxi Cabs) Paul |
Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? I've used this one, but seen a couple of more that I will check out later.

Re: Doing a search on Craigslist? I did not know there were so many options to do this.
I will add my favorite Craig's List search site: www.crazedlist.org "search craigslist like a mad man" The results of each individual location search is presented in a frame. You scroll through the list of frames looking for what you want in the results. I open the link to any item it finds that I want to see in a new tab, leaving the search results up on the original tab. Very handy. |
