I hunted ring neck Pheasants here in Maryland for many years but I rarely see any here now. I heard that chemicals used for no till farming caused a weakness of their egg shells and they just died off. We were only allowed to take male birds but it appears that you can take the females as well.

We have the same problem here, there is little to no native birds left. This is on a game farm close by my house.

I was going to say they dont look like Ducks to me.Good hunting must have been more than 1 guy involved as limit in Ct is only 2 per man. Best shot i remember was a 40 yd shot with a Win.42 .410 pump.I couldn't believe it reached out that far. Lucky shot i guess. He sure tasted good when i ate him. LOL ken ct.

Ken,
An old Winchester is like an old Ford. Well made, reliable and now very collectible and expensive.

Minnesota is the same. Only roosters.

Another problem is stray cats. Pheasants nest on the ground and make them an easy target. Still quite a few in minn and n/s Dakato!

Nice haul of birds and in my opinion labs are the best all around bird dog. Thanks for the pictures.

Tell me about it!!Thats the small part of the barn, the main part is worse yet and it's a beautiful barn.I said something to the owner of the game farm and he told me it's to costly to save it.I understand it would take some money but the main structure is in great shape, basicly needs siding repair and a roof.I hate to see those barns go to waste and get torn down.

nice truck, cool dog, the only thing i don't like about pheasants is cleaning them. they are abundant here in south dakota/nebraska.

It sure was we allways got more than our limit (did I say that?) but that was 45 years ago. I had cousins that lived in Muskegon we used to get there quite often. Good to know there is more barners in the area.

I never did any pheasant hunting but back in my teens the local chicken farmers would pay us a bounty on every hawk we killed,,at that time it was not illegal to kill them and they were numerous here in the Sunny South! HRP

Now that is a nice mess of birds you have there. I can remember as a kid on the farm . It was nothing to hear the rosters cackling out in the corn field behind the house. We used to do a lot of pheasant hunting back the. Very rarely see one these days. Nice truck also.

True Ken.

Southern Minnesota is more duck, goose, and pheasant territory. At least that is what we hunted. Some quail.
