1938 One Ton Express Front Sheetmetal
 

Hi, I'm wondering what parts are required to put the 1/2 ton front fenders on a '38 Ford 1 ton truck? Will they even fit the cab? Also, can I use the hood and side panels from the one ton truck with the smaller front fenders?

although not positive, the wheel opening will be smaller to match the smaller tires of the 1/2 ton. it should bolt up to the cab but the 1 ton should be higher off the ground giving a not so nice proportions

The one ton fenders are also wider than the half ton; the running boards will not match up. The hood, grille, and side panels are the same (in my experience). Good Luck!

The front fenders and fender/grille extensions and inner fenders are different than 1/2 ton. 3/4 ton - 1 ton - truck all use the larger fender. The rear fenders are unique to the 3/4 - 1 ton pickup. The bed is also a different width and height than the 1/2 ton and parts do not interchange.

I you can try to keep it 3/4 ton, its a rare and kinda cool truck (if you hot rod it don't try to buy 1935-40 chassis parts, the 3/4 ton frame is bigger and passenger - 1/2 ton stuff won't work). If you decide to convert to 1/2 ton you will end up chasing parts from one end to the other, so plan on replacing the chassis, fenders, running boards, and pickup box (keeping the grille, hood, and cab).

Thanks fellas! I plan on making it a flatbed, so the box details don't matter. I guess if I find a pair of half ton front fenders, I'd prefer that and do whatever is required to make it look smaller. I know I need to do something to lower it; maybe passenger car front spring and axle? What do you think? I have a '41 Ford car for parts I can raid. The back could be any rear axle as it has leaf springs.
