Re: would you run this head

I've seen worse used . The pitted chamber will cc a little more than the others but once it carbons up that won't be as much of an issue . Are these rare or something ? Why not replace it ? Anyways you have a judgement call on your hands here . I personally would throw it out but I have plenty heads .

i don't see a performance issue with using them.

Re: would you run this head

You will never know what it looks like when in operation. It looks like it might be an EAB head and won't be a problem.

Looks like they've been planed a massive amount. Check the piston and valve to head clearance. Probably find there is contact and they'll need to be clearanced anyway. Then you'll want to find some better candidates. Brian

Re: would you run this head

what heads are they? EAB-8RT-8CM-? I have a few extra on the shelf if you need one.

Re: would you run this head

Running it you would never know the difference. But, as easy as heads are to find, I'd replace it. JMHO

Re: would you run this head

finally got to the parts barn today, don't have any EAB, just a couple of 8BA pass side, I 8RT drivers side, and a bunch of A heads, including one that is suppossed to be for a 42 "A" engine. Sorry

Re: would you run this head

Elwood, the area above the pistons look pretty small, I'll bet the pistons will hit the heads. Walt

Hi Walt, these are the heads that came off this engine, its all EAB, I even found a EAB stamp on the crank.
Iv still got the heads off my 8CM, so iv cleaned them up and am gonna run them on this engine.
Im gonna put the cam Pete ground for me in it also, and plan on claying it all for clearance checks.
Thanks for the input, I always like hearing from you.

Re: would you run this head

Those Merc heads are awfull big. I'd use the EAB,s if I could. Walt

Re: would you run this head

would you use them pitted up EAB headsWalt ?
look at the pictures again please, that one combustion chamber is ugly.

Re: would you run this head

could i get the 8CM heads milled 30 or 40 thousands ? to lower the cc,s and raise compression

jack orchard 11-14-2011 08:34 PM

Re: would you run this head

just wondering-what the difference is between EAB and 8CM in cubic centimeters. how much lower would the compression ratio be?
