Shock levers 1 Attachment(s)
This is a pic of a V8 shock on my '30 roadster (It's also a pic of a bent brake rod).
When I finally get appropriate shocks can I reuse that lever you see or do I have to spend more money? Thanks boys Leo |
Re: Shock levers Not too familiar with those shocks but they seem alot taller than originals. I believe the arms mount on a square shaft and are longer on the rears than the fronts.
I have shocks for mine............in a box......around here somewhere. |
Re: Shock levers Sorry but the arms and the links are incorrect.
|
Re: Shock levers I noticed the election poster under your car. Great way to keep the floor clean ! The shocks, arms and links shown are incorrect and not for a Model A Ford.
|
Re: Shock levers The arms will not works but the links will work fine, they are standard dog bones ad are sold in every model a parts catalog. At the price of new shocks the arms aren't that bad. Shock arms are $22 each and shocks are $145. The shocks links you have are better for a driver but are not "original" new ones are $5.25 each and "originals" are $19 each. You can actually get a complete kit with shocks, arms, links, and nuts and bolts but they're. $675-$725

Re: Shock levers What is that ripple in the frame, just above the dogbone link?

Re: Shock levers Spinelll,
I had a 31 pick up my shop had the same problem with bent brake rods, the owner installed the service brake and e-brake LEVERS backwards. They were facing out instead of close to the backing plate. mike |

Tom
That ripple is the lower part of the body panel (see attached). |
Re: Shock levers spinelll The brake rods were either bent to clear,or else were bent by the longer V8 shocks.

Re: Shock levers We have a club member who had v8 shocks on the rear. He bounced his A on a set of railroad tracks when crossing them. Since the v8 shocks stick out too far, one side's brake rod "hung-up" on it applying that brake putting the A in a slight spin. Fortunately, no one was coming at him in the opposite lane. Didn't take long for him to dump the v8 shocks!
