Re: rear end noise I would pull the hub and check for broken parts.

Re: rear end noise Allen, think it might be someting with the emergency brake. 9 years ago was in roadster and hit a bump in rr track, loud bang and car skidded to a hault. couldn't go forward but was able to back onto my trailer got home and found the emergency brake twisted moved all around and nothing has happen since. have fun modelAtony lafayette,la

Re: rear end noise Noise in the rear is usually to many grandkids in the back seat or mother in law in the rumble seat.

Re: rear end noise My guess is that a bearing is coming apart. When this happens the gears get out of alignment and you get noise. Bearing rollers will seperate from their cage and stack up, backing up will unstack the rollers for a moment and unlock the gears. I wouldn't drive it at all untill I did some exploratory surgery on the backend. the gears may not be damaged beyond re using yet. I may be wrong, just my thoughts.

Re: rear end noise When I bought my 29 Tudor the rearend would lock up going forward, but release in reverse. It had defective emergency brake work done to it, and the linings would grab and lock the drums.
