front cross member

Is the front cross member of the frame the same for all years of Model A?

Re: front cross member

No, mainly 28/29, 30/31 due to radiator mounting height, as always, there are more minutia details.

Re: front cross member

The 28 front crossmembers have different placement for some of the rivet holes and will be a problem to fit the later frames

Thanks folks.
So how can I tell the early from the late?
I need one for a '30.

Re: front cross member

The 28 crossmember that I referr to has ears with holes that bolt to the engine and is the solid front motor mount style. I'm not sure what month of 28 but at some point it was recommended that the ears be sawed off and that the yoke style front motor mount be used. I think this was performed at the dealership. The 28 front crossmember had a bit higher pad where the radiator mounted with a round hole instead of a slot on each side where the radiator bolts on. These crossmembers can be confusing to the untrained eye if the early motor mounting ears have been sawed off. If you need a used crossmember call Berts 800-321-1931 and tell them what you need it to fit. good luck.

Bert's does not have one for a '30. Thanks to all who have posted on this subject.
I've been around model A cars and a few trucks the last 60+ years and never knew about the solid front mount before.
