help?? i bought a 1966 f100 with twin i-beams suspension with drums all around. how would i convert the front drums to disc, while lowering at the same time? is it even possible?

Re: help?? Your mid to late 80's donor truck probably has stamped steel I beams and ball joints instead of kingpins. Not sure that is going to fit a '66. The article Lanny refers to says to use '74 parts, it works, I've done it. As far as lowering it, with '66 or '74 I beams, you will end up with a lot of neg. camber, even with a lot of heating and bending

Re: help?? One more idea, is to abandon the twin I beam system and get a front suspension from a 2003 and later Crown Victoria/full size Merc. These cars have the same width frame rails as your pickup. They have a bolt on aluminum crossmember with the control arms attached to it as well as the rack & pinion unit. This way you will end up with power steering and 12" disc brakes as well. This has been done before and posted by a fordbarn member (I can't remember his name)

Re: help?? I have been doing some research on the front half suspension swamp. the more i look at the truck, i would like to keep it i beams and lowered. My goal is to have the cross member about 6 inches of ground clearance. I found the company, DJM suspension, they offer a 3 inch drop i beam. Is that a reasonable option? Will a drop i beam still give me neg camber? Will the spindle from the 74 fit on a drop i beam?

Re: help?? The DJM beam is probably designed to compensate for the camber, email them to find out the particulars
