Re: Hagerty insurance Coupe35,
Never had a claim, but seem great. Regards, Paul |
Re: Hagerty insurance I just signed on with them,I had American Colectors before didn't have a problem just wasn't happy with the price. I shopped around found I could add more coverage and add another car for the same money as my old policy. They also have a clause that if you pick up another car its automatic to your current policy as long as you notify them with in 30 days. They even insure projects.

Re: Hagerty insurance A good friend of mine had a claim, they were fantastic to deal with.

Re: Hagerty insurance I've used Hagerty for a few years.......but never had a major claim either. Needed a tow once however, and their roadside assistance program worked great.

Re: Hagerty insurance I've had my '50 "C" word PU insured by them for a couple of years. Never had a claim, but they do have a good towing policy, as previously mentioned. When I get my 34 down here, I plan to use them to insure it too!
Only down side I know of, is that I've started receiving unsolicited emails from various special interest groups, all vehicle related, which tells me that they sell your address info. |
Re: Hagerty insurance I've had insurance with Hagerty for over ten years. Had a major claim in '95. Adjuster was here in two days and I had a very reasonable check in hand within a week. Outstanding in my book.

Re: Hagerty insurance I think Hagerty is great. I think Heacock Classic is just as great for less cost.

Re: Hagerty insurance I have 3 cars insured with them, A friends daughter totaled his Torino & they gave him the insured amount & let him keep the car.

Re: Hagerty insurance I have been with Grundy for the last four years. Had a claim a couple months ago and they provided super service.
|
Re: Hagerty insurance I been with Hagerty for 3 years and had 1 windshield replaced with out a problem.
|
Re: Hagerty insurance We've had them on all our cars for years. No claims though (fortunately!)
|
Re: Hagerty insurance I've had them for 12 yrs with agreed value and had 1 claim for a lost spider hubcap. NO questions just sent a check and right away.

Re: Hagerty insurance Have been with them seven years; no claims, but the roadside assistance has come in handy several times. A friend had his '50 sedan insured with them and always speaks very highly of their service when the car was t-boned several years ago. They even paid him for his own time spent on repairing it.

Re: Hagerty insurance Always an interesting subject.
Most folks are not aware that the different "sellers" of antique auto insurance are not the ones providing the insurance coverage. You may be buying insurance from Grundy or Condon/Skelly, but the coverage is "underwritten" by such insurance companies as Zurich, Foremost, Metlife Auto, Philadelphia Indemnity ... and so on. And the actual underwriting company may differ by state. Not that it matters. You will hear very few stories, if any, about somebody not being treated fairly by any of the antique auto insurers. There has been a lot posted, price seems to be the major difference. Even more unusual, companies like State Farm and Nationwide, rather than write you on one of their policies, may place your coverage with Grundy who in turn places it with ... XYZ company. One caution. Insure your car for what it's worth. You can insure it for less and hope that any damage/claim wll not be for the total value of the car ... you can get that bent fender fixed and the company will pay 100%. BUT, if you do have a total loss, agreed amount or whatever, they will not pay more than the policy total. ... and if they do pay the total, they get the car. You have the right to BID for the salvage value. True story. Model A roadster. Hurricane Katrina. Total loss, $10,000. The car had belonged to the insured's father and had been completely restored. It was worth quite a bit more than $10,000. In order to make a claim for the 10K AND get his father's car back from the insurance company, the insurer owner would have had to beat the then high bid of $12,000 ... the salvage value. Incidently, he took the 10 grand and somebody else paid more for the salvage than the insurance company paid for the loss. Read 'em and weep. |
Re: Hagerty insurance Nope. Been with The Hartford for over a decade, and though I’ve looked around to see if I could get a better deal someplace else, I haven’t been able to find better classic auto insurance quotes with any other provider. They handled the claim I made really well, kept rates low, and been pleasant to deal with too, so I suggest you see what they offer you.

Re: Hagerty insurance Have had them for 5 years, no problems.

Re: Hagerty insurance Here's a current Hagerty story ... and not unique to them. As I posted earlier, there have not been many bad experiences reported with the antique insurance companies.
Good friend just had a low mileage collector car shipped from the NY area to Jacksonville. It arrived with numerous serious, hand-sized bruises that took the paint down to and below the primer ... original paint, of course. Cracked the driver's window. CIGARETTE burn on the seat. Dent in the top after requesting and paying for "on top" loading. Do not to use a trucking broker. Obviously the trucker's fault, their insurance low-balled the $4,000 damage, $2,200. My buddy reported the damage to Hagerty to keep them aware of the problem and not to file a claim with them. Hagerty convinced him that they should write him a check and proceed against the trucker themselves. Pretty cool. (I don't say that very often.) I still have not heard of any bad experiences with any of the antique insurers. (I HAVE worked both as an underwriter and an agent during my motley career ... and have some insight into the business.) |
Re: Hagerty insurance I have all my stuff insured with State Farm { WI only } and they make no special fuss over old cars . If valued over $ 20,000 though they want an appraisel . I also drive the cars down to my agents and he takes pics of them . The rates are no different than a newer vehicle with the same value . The policy on a 33 5w & a SL500 Benz costs about the same as the replacement cost is the same . Interesting info from the bandaged up guy about them farming out policys on old stuff . I will ask my agent . They also insure my Lugers & old John Deeres under my country estate policy . Dunno how they will be on a claim though as I havn't made one on collector stuff . Not exactly an answer to your query but related .

Re: Hagerty insurance I have Hagerty and have never had a claim but the price is great. The best thing is that they want you to use your car. Their ad shows the dash line on a highway and the copy says, "Tear along dotted line."
When I had J.C. Whitney insurance there could be no performance mods and they were very strict about driving. They didn't want pleasure driving. |
