rear oil leak in motor I just put a new inserted engine in my car and it has a leak in the rear. it don't apear to be coming frrom the end of the crank or oil pan but there is oil on the cap bolts and up in the bolt area that holds the flywheel housing on. has anyone had either of thes bolts leak?:mad:

Re: rear oil leak in motor yes.. contact the builder and see what he has to say.. no sense trying to take things apart because that might void any warranty

Re: rear oil leak in motor Hey I just pulled the transmission and fllywheel and the only oil I can see looks like it came from that bolt. The only question in my mind is how it dripped from the bearing cap bolts unless the flywheel turning slung it around them.I brought this motor from an A-Model buff who had it rebuilt several years ago and never used it. The rebuilder died but he was well respected as he rebuilt several in our local club and all satisfactory jobs.The rear seal is dry. Thanks for the sugestion

Re: rear oil leak in motor The housing was cracked around the bolt and about one inch to the right.
