34 generater pulley bent Hey folks I am looking for suggestions on truing up the pulley on my 34 flathead. Had my ears in the other day & when I started ol yeller I heard a clicking sound. Upon further investigation I saw the fan had a wobble. Pulled the generater & found the pulley nut loose still closer investigation found the pulley out 3/32 on one mounting area. Thought about truing it up in a lathe but the belt groove would still be out as it looks like that area of the pulley is bent or was cast bad. This is cast so putting it in a press is out as I don't want to break it.

Re: 34 generater pulley bent Is the shaft straight ? Bending castings usually results in more-smaller parts than you started with . What is the diameter of your pulley ? I have x-tras if you are running the finned type as 34 should be .

Re: 34 generater pulley bent small run out on the belt is ok, but the belt can squeak I have seen this on the C,S pulley being bent ,Fords Machining was pretty good .it sounds like the taper key way was affected through it being loose .

Re: 34 generater pulley bent Ted nope. Keyway is ok & tight. Pulley is off on one (3/32") mounting hole & has a pretty good run out. I just checked the belt & one edge is starting to get a lip on it. The pulley hole was starting to wear also. This puppy is cast & just don't see how it could have been that much out without breaking into pieces if it had been hit. Anyhow David J has stepped up & come to my rescue. Thanks again David J.
