Door Aligment Problem

As you may recall, I completely disassembled the truck for painting and refurbishment. The doors worked fine at that time. Now that I have re-assembled it, the drivers side door was about 1/2" too low at the latch so it would not close. I shimmed the cowl up which fixed the door, but now the passenger side door is too low and the hood is not lined up properly at all. I am pretty sure that was not what I was supposed to do because we added about 3/4" of shims.

The hinges are not bent and the top dimension across the door is exactly 28 1/2" as it is supposed to be. I am very frustrated as this was the last thing I had to do.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Did you do any welding on your sub frame when you had it apart?

Have you looked at Marco's site on door alignment?

Start with the hood fit and work your way back . Did you get all your body blocks in right?

Been a body man for 17+ years now and I would measure from the front bottom of the door jamb to the top of the rear door jamb and vise versa for both sides. once that is the same on both sides try your doors correct your fit than move to the hood. jsut my 2 cents.

Popeye31 is right. The hood is the last.

Frame sag??? Body blocks in same positions as before. My understanding is you start at the FRONT to get things aligned properly. Good luck.

Trial and error, all body bolts in loose, then lift with a pry bar and do both doors at the same time. You will need 2 people to do this, take your time. Then move to the hood, to bring the doors up at the latch, shim the body bolts at the hinge area, then tighten the forward cowl area body bolt, should bring the back of the door up.
