Diamond Block Serial Numbers

I have a diamond block with the SN "DR88222" stamped on it. Anybody have any idea what this might have been originally used for/installed in? Just curious.

Diamond blocks were made after regular production ceased, perhaps into the 50's? They were made mostly for commercial uses, farm equipment, etc. Many did not have a number stamped on them, those that have them are most likely done by the equipment manufacturer or a local DMV if installed in a car.

If there is a A, or AA then it was assembled, run in and shipped complete from The Rouge. See Ford garage for a discussion of the numbering. Bob

Jim B,
Nice article in this edition of the Restorer. I had been under the impression that the diamond blocks were made up to 1941. After reading your article I checked mine, and the B head I have was made in 1945.
Fun stuff!
