Re: Adjustable spoke 19" wire Wheel? wow! I have never seen those either. I've seen 16s and a set of 17s before. The 17s were welded to Model T hubs. I thought about trying to free them, but the farmer that must have done it back in the day REALLY liked welding. They were never to be separated again.
Makes sense that there were 19s as well. Pretty neat! Thanks for posting guys! |

Re: Adjustable spoke 19" wire Wheel? Thanks for the input guys.
Were these a stock Ford Piece or an aftermartket replacment? Are there any other ID traits I could look for to tell me some history? Jeff |
Re: Adjustable spoke 19" wire Wheel? I believe if I'm not mistaken that these are Kelsey Hayes wheels, and they were an aftermarket item back in the day.
|
Re: Adjustable spoke 19" wire Wheel? These wheels were non-Ford. Kelsey-Hayes was a major manufacturer of wheels. They made adjustable and non-adjustable bent wire spoke wheels that were not authorized by Ford but commonly sold after market for Ford. I've seen or have them in 19, 18, 17 and 16 inch sizes. Of course KH supplied Ford with "stock" Model A wheels as well as many other vehicle manufacturers including Harley Davidson m/cs.

Re: Adjustable spoke 19" wire Wheel? those bent spoke wheels were made by Motor Wheel Corp. there are marked near the valve stem hole just like Kelsey Hayes wheels were....later merged with KH..

Re: Adjustable spoke 19" wire Wheel? I'll try to take a closer look and report back if I see an ID marker.
