Car lift recommendations Hello Folks -- I am looking in investing in a scissor-style car lift so I can do routine maintenance on my Zephyr such as wheel, rear-end, brake and tranny work. I don't have room for a tall post system, or I'd look at that.
Question: Any experience, pro and con? Any brand recomendations? I've seen the Eagle brand on the web, but don't know what else is out there. Thanks in advance! PS -- I did a search on the forum, but didn't find a similar thread. Sorry if this is redundant. |
Re: Car lift recommendations when you say you dont have room for a tall hoist do you mean inside your garage? you must have room some where because you are looking at a scissor jack

Re: Car lift recommendations Sorry, I meant I don't have the height to put in the tall, permantly mounted post systems because my garage door would interfere with it. Hope that makes sense.

Re: Car lift recommendations Is it possible to change the doors? A regular is so much better bit if you can't make changes anything is better than a creeper. Just make sure that it has a safety lock when it is in the up position,

Re: Car lift recommendations do you have room to install it out side ? as was stated make sure you get a 4 post hoist and one with safty looks

Re: Car lift recommendations I actually operate a garage near you with a combination of two and four post lifts. I have a scissor type lift from a previous site and IMO both types have advantages. The scissor is a bit more restricted working underneath, but quite manageable, and can be installed without prior floor preparation. I have seen a two post pull out and fall with a car when installed in a room where apparently the floor concrete was not of sufficient strength or thickness to handle it. A four post is good but like the scissor is more restricted to work underneath. I also have seen the Eagle brand advertised but have no experience with them. All mine are Rotary (just happened to be there when I purchased them), but that is a very common brand for a garage. If I were to chose only one for hobby use in my home garage, I would go with the scissor.

Re: Car lift recommendations Thanks for the recommendations / observations. I've looked around, and there are some differences in size, lift heights, etc., so I have a decision to make.
