Engine paint - need brighter green than POR15

Ready to paint block, heads, etc. but need a brighter green than the POR 15 (Ford green) on my 34pu. The POR 15 has a gray green look. I've seen some pics that show a brighter dark green (black/green) look. Anyone have a suggestion? I've seen ads for Bill Hersh? Anyone use his green color? I picked up a Duplicolor green engine spray, but it is a blue/green - heavy on the blue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I use Ford Engine Green Spray from Bratton's (a Model A supplier). Ph 1 800 255 1929.
Part no. 7730 for the spray can or 7720 for the pint can.

There are differences in the Ford Green from various suppliers. This comes up occasionally, and I think it just boils down to personal preference. Personally, I prefer the lighter green with the grayish blue mixed in. JMHO

Ralph,

Thanks for taking the time to post a pic. On my test using that paint, it has a bluish cast which would clash with the "Willow Green" I think I will be using for cab. I was hoping someone may have a pic of Bill hirsh's "Ford green" to compare. I'm planning on painting the wire wheels and engine to match. I know thats not the norm but a combo I saw once and it stuck with me.

Have you tried a drop of gas on the Duplicolor paint to see if it stands up to the test? I'm open to other pic of dark green if anyone has the time. Thanks

Unfortunately, I'm a little far away from putting fuel to it. I hope to be able to fire it up by the end of summer.

I've painted a few old Ford engine with a green I like. I get it from Napa rattel can, called Bridish Raceing Green, you've see some of those Vintage Bridish cars with that dark Green, It looks almost like the Ford green but with a better shin. Walt

I have an original 32 straight down drain V8 engine and the back of the block and bellhousing had the origginal paint on it. Amazingly good . I found that it was virtually identical on color to the Model A engine enamel. Got mine from the local Model A store in town. Mail Truck Model A PH # is (414)762-7288 Ask for AL This came in a quart can and was reasonably priced.

I think the Model A suppliers are using different sources. Try to see a sample before you buy. I have some spray cans from Snyder that are way to blue/gray for me. I had an old can of factory mix Ditzler that was great but I used it all. I do have a 32 B NOS upper flywheel housing that is my reference. I am happy when the paint matches it.

And it looks good on the 3 speed tranny too. I used what was left in the can, thank's Walt. Dupli-color DE1644 racing green.
