Gunmetal Blue? As you may recall, I am painting the yellow truck gunmetal blue as it was one of the orginal colors. (During disassembly, coincidentially, I found out that it was this color originally.)
The riddle of the day . . . Why is it called gunmetal blue? It is actually a greenish gray color very similar to the engine color, although a bit darker. The color mix recipe does not have any blue in it at all. Mostly green with some yellow and some others. Very weird, but it looks pretty nice. Hope you all had a nice weekend and thanks a bazillion to all of you veterans! Bob |

Re: Gunmetal Blue? "Why is it called gunmetal blue? It is actually a greenish gray color"
Nearly 40 years ago, I mail ordered Niagara Blue Dark paint for my first 28 roadster "mestoration" from a list of colors in a Model A book without having actually seen the color. I nearly cried when I opened the can and it was GREEN. After about twenty years I sort of got used to it. Edsel must have been color blind. |
Re: Gunmetal Blue? Not Model "A", but it is Ford, ever seen "Cloud Mist Gray" on a '39 or '40?
Very GREEN. Color blindness must have been prominent in the Ford family. My avatar is cloud mist gray |
Re: Gunmetal Blue? My pickup is "Stone Gray" but in some pictures it looks blue, some green, and some just black.
