Re: New Judging Standards ?????

i am under the impression that the JS with cover is $25 PLUS another $10 for shipping, at least from MARC.
MARC was good enough to bring Long Island Club's books to the National Meet in Florida where a member than drove them home to eliminate the $10 shipping for EACH of the ten copies I ordered for members.
The UPDATES were $13.50 per copy, including shipping.

Re: New Judging Standards ?????

Actually, the $13.50 does not appear to include shipping charges. When I first started to order the updates online from MARC, the shipping calculated at $15. I decided not to order it from MARC at that time. I just tried again, and the shipping is now calculating at $5.75 to my address. I may order them from MARC, or I may just wait until I am ordering something else from a Model A Vendor and get the Judging Standards Update then to reduce shipping charges.

Re: New Judging Standards ?????

Well hello .. i recieved the NEW Judging Standards [saturday] .Very nicely done and my hat goes out to everyone who took part in bringing it all together. Also to the young ladies at MARC Headquarters for straighing out the miss mailing ..In a way they did me a favor in sending me the Restorer's Model 'A' shop manual[ not a bad book!]. So i sent them the difference and we are all square. [with no one losing any cash]... So this fall after Hershey ,i'll be installing the now correct pop-out head+keys ,head light bar[stamped steel] and water return tube all of which i have been waiting for the "OK" ...:>) again ,,thank you,,, to all that took part... great hobby [besides trains]]l.o.l.

I am hoping MARC mgmt. will bring a bunch of new standards to the San Diego Meet. Seems to be the right place to distribute the new info.

I also believe if you order 2 or more copies from the MARC office the shipping is free.
I do not know where you got the $15 fee from?????

All I know is that I ordered my update copy from MAFCA, and have yet to get it. They did process my CC, way back when I ordered it, some several months ago.

Re: New Judging Standards ?????

I had ordered my 2 early from mafca and was charged 11.00 shipping. A few days after Marc advertised 2copies to same address free shipping, should have cancelled the mafca order and ordered thru Marc. You would think since it was a joint venture both would offer the same deal. It seems Marc is more for the members and mafca is more for them not the members.

Re: New Judging Standards ?????

Ken,

You might want to check with whoever does the MARC Website and ask them to check the shipping calculator on the MARC online store. That is where I initially got the $15 shipping calculated. Needless to say, I stopped when I saw that.

Later, I tried again and it calculated the shpping charges at $5.75, which I also decided not to proceed with. If MARC is offering free shipping on two copies, I would certainly consider that, as I have local friends who could also use a copy. Unfortunately, right now, the MARC online store is calculating a $9.50 shipping charge for two copies to my zipcode.

The FREE Shipping policy is spelled out on the MARC website.

Free Shipping Policy for the Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards
Monday, May 02, 2011 -
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a limited time "Retail Orders" of two (2) or more copies of RG & JS Revision 3 Supplement 1 (2011) sent to the same address, will receive "FREE SHIPPING within the USA". Call the MARC Office directly at 734-427-9050 to place these orders.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to take advantage of the "Free Shipping" offer, these orders must be placed directly with the MARC office. Specifically, do not go to the MARC Store on this web site as shipping and handling charges are required for any size order through Pay Pal and are non-refundable.

That is correct. Neither club is supposed to be "under-cutting" the other. It has nothing to do with being "more for the members".

Re: New Judging Standards ?????

Marcos,
Thanks. When I went to the MARC Website, I simply clicked on the store button from the top of the homepage. If I had scrolled down, I would have seen that, but I was not looking for a lot to read, simply attempting to place an order. With my limited website design experience, It would seem to me that the webmaster could set up the online store to calculate the shipping the same as a phone order.

Thanks again.

Call me an idiot, and I'm not a restorer, but how can judging standards change in the first place? All original is always all original, right?

New information is learned along the way. As more research is done studying the blueprints and release letters at the Benson Ford Research Center more information can be added to the J/S.:)

Also a lot of information can be found in original cars. That's why it's so important to NOT restore a good original car, or even a borderline original car.

That makes sense, thanks!
