Painting Project Update 5 Attachment(s)
Well, I finally started to spray some paint. After a few minutes of getting used to the gun and the paint, the parts turned out pretty nice. Only one will need to be redone. I also painted the engine.
Hopefully this weekend, I may get to the cab and the bed. I am making a stand to hold each one so I can paint them all at once with moving them around. My wife loves the body parts in the living room! |
Re: Painting Project Update i knew them printing paper boxes were good for something.. bless your wife cause mine would have thrown me out and the horse i rode in on...

Re: Painting Project Update Tell me they are just laid out in the living room after the painting was done. It just looks like you sprayed them in the house...right ?

Re: Painting Project Update Not exactly how most of us would do it, but if you're happy.............
|
Re: Painting Project Update Nice work, but if you are using the 2 part paint you need to heed some caution. They contain isocyanates which are very dangerous and easily absorbed through tissues, even the eyes. The charcoal respirator may be used if it is fresh and properly fitted in a well vented booth. A supplied air respirator with a full body suit is highly recommended.
We would like to see a healthy "A" buddy around for a long while. The work looks good though. GW |
Re: Painting Project Update Looking good!! - keep the photos coming.

Re: Painting Project Update I am very sorry that people jump to conclusions and assume some of us are idiots. It is not a 2 part urethane paint system and I followed all of the safety precautions on the MSDS that came with the paint, including wearing a respirator with new cartridges.
Also, it was painted in a spray booth set up in an airplane hanger with excellent ventilation. This was probably the last update for this project. |
Re: Painting Project Update Please send us more updates and pictures. You are doing a great job and we learn lot form them. For example what type and brand of paint are you using? I am about to do a bit of painting myself - 30 tudor.

While I would be one of many who would encourage you to continue to post updates, the choice is definitely yours, ...and quite frankly, life will go on for most of us if you choose to no longer make any additional posts however I take the position that many folks have unselfishly helped you here where you can "repay" them by not witholding progress updates. . |
Re: Painting Project Update Oh boy. Here we go again....

Re: Painting Project Update Brent brings up a good point. For the record:
1. The truck parts were painted in a properly vented spray booth at an airplane hangar and all proper safety precautions were taken. Unfortunately the photo's were taken after so I had something for my scrap book. 2. The completed parts are stored in my living room as I am not blessed with a super large garage. I thought people would get a kick out of this. 3. I really appreciate the help and support I get on Ford Barn and try to reciprocate whenever I can. Have a great day. Bob |
Re: Painting Project Update I did get a kick out of it. And I would be the first to make a silly comment about a pic of mine. I would never assume any of the folks here on Ford Barn are idiots. But you have to admit from the untrained eye seeing the pic's of the fenders in the living room and then seeing the pic's painting, it looked as though you were in the house (I knew you weren't ) and it looked too funny. I look to all you guys for help and would never want to offend.
