Congratulations!

Is this a MARC or MAFCA or a joint (MARC/MAFCA) club?

We're just starting it up but hopefully we'll be affiliated with both!

Are you aware there are already three organized MARC Groups in GA. Southside A's, south metro Atlanta. The Georgia Region, North of Atlanta. The Gold Mine Region, North Georgia.
Is there a need for another club? I suggest you reach out to the existing clubs and get involved. I know all of them and all could use new blood to enhance their organizations.

Therer are also MAFCA Groups in GA. I am not as familiar with their organizations. The same applies to this as my MARC post above.

Yes, I am aware of the other clubs, but Georgia is a large state and they are all at least an hour or more away from where I live. With gas prices the way they are, I'm sure there's not many folks out there willing to drive that far for a car club meeting. So, yes I would say that there IS a need for another club in this area. However, I appreciate your suggestion and comments.

I think a new club in that area is a great idea, I for one would like to drive my "A" to some of the meetings with out having to get on the interstate to get to the other clubs. Rome is an easy drive from Marietta with a lot less traffic plus is a pretty drive.;)

Re: NW Georgia Model A Club First Meeting

I think there is a need for this club.

I hate my drive in Atlanta traffic everyday to work (in a diesel F250 4 dr 4x4 truck I don't feel safe). I sure don't like driving my Model A there. There is no easy way for me to get to those other clubs without fighting the traffic and most of the tours I hear about are going the opposite direction of Atlanta from me. Most people in Atlanta tend to stay in whatever quadrant they live in since everything they need is there.

I don't even like the drive to Mike's anymore since he moved from Dacula.

Rome GA is an easy 45 minute drive for me. I'm in.

Well, we had our first meeting and those that missed it didn't learn the secret handshake. Future members will have to go through a rigorous initiation of running the gauntlet in their underwear while singing, "Henry's Made A Lady Out Of Lizzie" at the top of their lungs.

Actually, we had a nice lunch and I left there excited about working on my car this evening. I even called another Model A friend on the way home and started spreading the news.

Thanks Josh for getting this thing going.

Looks like you are under way. Our club is located on the southside of Atlanta (Southside A's), a Marc affiliate, although many of us belong to MAFCA also. I would be happy to send a copy of our by-laws to use as a guide as you set up the club. We tour with many other local clubs. Once you get established you are welcome to join us.

Re: NW Georgia Model A Club First Meeting

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the support! Jim and Tom, I will definetly be in touch with ya'll for some help, as I am pretty new to this. Well, I just got in from a cruise night here in town, and it was disappointing seeing two Model A Tudors cut up into ratrod pickup trucks :( It just shows how much of a need there is for a MARC/MAFCA type club in this town. However, I did make a few contacts for future members by spreading the word about what we're doing. We're very excited to see this thing get off the ground, and can't wait to see what the future holds! Thanks again for the support! And Tim, hilarious post! Can't wait to watch the new members go through initiation and have to run "the gauntlet!" LOL just kidding :)........

If you ever decide on a long road trip, Savannah would be glad to see you.

Glad your meeting went well. You are on target with cruise nights. When I first took my A out there wern't many showing up. But eventually the started coming out of the woodwork. As Tom stated above the Southside group will help any way we can to get you up and running. I believe you will find MARC more active in the east and MAFCA more active in the west. I have belonged to both but support MARC.

God Luck!!!

Thanks, man! I am very familiar with Savannah, I was stationed in Beaufort, SC with the Marines. That would be a good, but long trip! Gotta start gettin' the ol' girl back road ready!

Thanks Ray! Yeah, I think if we get out there and show up at a few cruise ins, it will stir some interest and people will start bringing out their cars.
