Has anyone found any LED’s that are short enough to work in a 30/31 roadster cowl lamps?

Not sure if there's a difference but I'm running the amber LEDs in my Coupe cowl lamps. Same size as the dash and dome light. I got them from Snyders. I'm 6v.

Logo Lites #63 LED bulbs are the same length as incandescents but they are only listed for 6 volt.

The 1930-'31 cowl lights are the same except that some have a screw instead of a rivet attaching the bulb socket to the body.

I bought LED lamps for the tail,cowl,and brake from Snyders.Almost any flavor will do,as they are used to BE SEEN,not to see with like a headlight.

The folks at classicautobulbs may have what you are looking for, however, I imagine you know it's not as straight forward as just swapping out incandescent bulbs with LEDs. You likely will also need to install load resisters to each since your resistance flasher may not recognize the low wattage LED. You can upgrade to an LED flasher but that likely opens a whole new can of worms with the rear stop/turn signal lights unless you plan on a complete LED conversion all around. Hope this helps with your research.

Don't understand how you can use a dual filament bulb in a single base cowl lamp holder, but try here:

btw, I used bright 240 lumen LED's in my cowl lamps and have them wired to a separate switch to use as daytime running lights. I have a similar setup in another car with two-light headlights.

FYI.

I have leds in the rear on my 6 volt system. All 4 corners of the car have directionals. The cowl lamps have been wired for both parking lamps and directionals, but I have been using regular bulbs for the last 5 years. The bulbs finally burnt out, so I thought I would look into LEDS.

ledlight.com 64218 should work, but you may need to add a ballast resistor like DF says.

That will not work. The photo shows dual filament, but the description says:

Rebaydo 2pcs BA15D 6 Volt 60 SMD 5730 "Single Filament" Reduced Profile.

Made with total 60 leds, 44 side firing and 16 forward firing. This lamp is a "single filament" bulb.

I use the 6v amber LED lamps listed in Snyders catalog as A-13466-ALED. They also have white. I like the amber becauce it is more visible during daylight. I use my cowl light as a directional light as well. This is much more noticeable than having directionals on the bumper.

Correct, I forgot there are 2 types, 1 filament between contacts an 2 between contacts and shell. 62417 is the one you need.

Snyder's A-13464 (2 ea.) can be connected between each tail lamp and ground so the thermal flasher works. Electronic flashers are susceptible to ignition noise, causing erratic operation.
