Re: 8BA paint color KBS motor coater is the best I have ever used but I didn't find your color on the website.

Re: 8BA paint color They used that bronze color in 1950 & 1951 but only for cars. Pickups were red and then green in late production. The green was about the same as the Mercury cars. Bill Hirsch Auto should still be around. I heard his family took it over after he passed. In any case, Dennis Carpenter and others should have it.

Re: 8BA paint color I have used Hirsch a few times and brushed it on. No brush marks, and lasts forever.

Re: 8BA paint color 1952 was the change over to the EAB engines which had the rotator valves carried over from 1951. The EAB had a little bit higher compression heads and a cam change to increase performance with the changes in the fuel available. The competitions higher performance overhead valve V8s were affecting the numbers plus more folks wanted the automatic transmissions. Ford knew that the flathead V8s days were numbered but it took them a while to design their own overhead valve V8 for lower cost production. The 215 Ford 6 and the Lincoln 317 were out already but the Ford and Mercury V8s were still in development.
Ford always used color to identify V8 engine differences in the 8BA era that began in 1948 with the introduction of the bonus built trucks. |
