Does anyone know what’s going on with the Early Ford Store?

On January 17 I ordered a radiator cap for my ’31 that unfortunately does not fit. The box indicates it’s correct, so I’m wondering if it may have been placed in the wrong box or possibly mislabeled or defective.

It took quite a while to ship to me - I only received it after my credit card was charged and I followed up days later with a phone call to check on the order. Since discovering the cap doesn’t fit, I’ve tried multiple times to reach them by phone and email to arrange a return. When I have reached someone, I’ve been told Mike would call me back, but I haven’t received a return call. My last couple of attempts have resulted in a “mailbox is full” message.

I’ve done business with them before and haven’t experienced this level of difficulty getting a response. I hope everything is okay on their end, but I’m concerned.

Has anyone had recent contact with them or know their current status?

Thanks

I’ve been doing. Business with them for a good 20 years. My Dad would bring me there as a kid in the 1970’s.

Having said that, they are Not the same place they were just a few years ago. They are my first stop when I’m looking for a unique or NOS part. I visit the store every time I’m back in San Dimas, it’s a fun place, like a living museum.

From my perspective, they are a min staffed and traditional brick & mortar store. In person is the way to go. Anything else, be prepared to wait.

Mail Orders can take up to three weeks and emails, phone calls go unanswered. I did have a minor problem with a mail order. Took a week to get a response. The slow service and lack of communication is troubling.

They are a good source and will eventually come through but I won’t use them again for my routine purchases.

A day or two after my initial post I received a call from the Early Ford Store. A new part was sent to me and all is well. As WRA said in his post, I understand how businesses can get behind and I would do business with them again. Cheers
