Inspection and registration tomorrow
 

Well I finally got to drive the 35 convertible sedan frame outside today under its own steam. Just the Columbia controls to finish off the mechanical components. Then I was able to lower my hoist to get the roadster outside, ready for an inspection and registration tomorrow. It’s only been off the road for 24 years!
Time for some action!!!

Dan…I’m getting ready to put the frame back under my ‘51 Tudor….its good to see big things happening with a project!…..that roadster is a beautiful car!…..Mark

Well it’s passed the inspection and registered, but back in the workshop and on the hoist again. Still more work to do to get it running sweetly and not stalling at the intersection. Also the brakes still require adjustment and it appears I have forgotten how heavy the 35 steering is! So a few things to work on before I take it back out on the road.

Way to go. I just got my '34 done on Tuesday. Its fairly simple here. The police look at your bill of sale (no titles required on old cars in Georgia) and check the numbers on the frame to make sure it matches the existing registration and that those numbers do not come up as stolen and sign off on a form. You take that form to the county tax assessor with the bill of sale and that's it. I also got my original 1934 Georgia license plate approved and registered to the car. All totaled $39 for first year as it includes the sales tax and $20/year after.

$20/ year?????? Gee we get ripped off here in Australia!!!!!

Here in Alberta we only pay a one time fee of around $36 to register your antique. We do have to get an "out of province" inspection done by an approved garage and licensed mechanic. My three have all passed on the first try.

When I lived in Virginia they had permanent registrations on antiques for $100. There are restrictions like you cannot park overnight on a street side, no modifications and no highway use. I've had my '47 Chevy on 1947 VA plates since 1998 even thought I've lived in 5 other states since then as the registration is still active until I sell, which I never will. I'm down to $3.44 a year on it so far and hope to make it to $2/year.
