Christmas ride in your A?
 

Merry Christmas! Who was able to give their Model A a Christmas present and take it out for a ride? I was able to get a 20 miler in today and took some friends and family out for a ride. Great way to spend time on Christmas.

We took our Victoria out for a Christmas Eve ride and saw some beautiful lights.

Popped open the rumble seat and filled it with presents for the family. It’s 79 and partly sunny so I put down the Wretched Roadster’s top. On the way to Christmas dinner, drove a few miles to the Murphy’s station for non-ethanol fuel but found it closed. I’m glad those folks don’t have to work on Christmas. Now awaiting the traditional meatball lasagna and garlic bread (just like that day in Bethlehem?).

No Model A'ing for me today.Yesterday I cleaned up after the storm,and today I went out to widen things out and scrape out from the drifts.Had several whiteouts with the wind blowing around the loose snow.I just tuck my head down between my shoulders until the storm passes.My Bobcat just has a roll cage,not a cab,and only screens out anything bigger than 2 inch.I did clear the snow away from the doors of the two Model A buildings,but I really don't know why,they ain't gonna move until the salt is fully washed from the roads.I do look at my phaeton sitting in the cellar.If I leave a door open,that dog will be in there waiting to go for a ride.

After a cold foggy morning the sun came out around 1 pm and it warmed up to 66 degrees! In central KS that's rare so yes, the A came out for several rides around the area. Quite a treat on Christmas day. :)

Merry Christmas all! Wanted to do our traditional Christmas ride in the roadster this year, and have our ride, picnic, and deliver homemade caramels to friends... however it decided to rain in Southern California this year. Bummed!

Yesterday, Christmas day, was a wonderful day here in North Carolina for a drive in my Model A. However, after the mid-day Christmas dinner, and some wine, I did not feel sober enough to take it out. I ate dinner at my neighbor's house with her family. A bunch of crazy people. I fit right in.

I generally leave a door open in that car when it is in the cellar.That dog will clear the side of a pickup truck from flat ground.At least she could a couple of years ago,now I'm noticing she waits until somebody opens the tailgate first.She's been known to climb a ladder too.When we first got her I was putting a battery charger on a Ford Ranger,and all of a sudden,there she was,standing on the engine.She rides around in the manlift with me,but I won't go up with her in the basket.She tries to ride in the Bobcat with me,but that won't work.She won't ride on a golf cart though.I haven't tried her in a sidecar yet.If I buy another one I will find out.My other dogs all loved the sidecar.

Central Maine was not good fot Model A Ford touring. 7" of snow, strong winds and 17 degrees F.

I wanted to take the Coupe out, but the seat ain't bolted down yet. I did swap out the modern license plate for the vintage '31. I should be able to take her out for New Year's.

I’m happy I was able to get a ride in on Christmas. We got an inch of sleet and frozen rain in SE Pennsylvania last night. Might be the new year before I can get my Tudor out again. Just going to take it a day at a time (fingers crossed!)

couldn't to it Christmas...too wet. but today, the skies cleared, the roads dried, and the temp dropped to 5 below. Hadn't been started in 2 weeks. Started faster than any fuel injected modern car when you know the procedure. Also, in the last 96 years, the check engine light has never come on!

A friend in France has a 97 year old father who is barely mobile these days and has been depressed. I drove down and we got him into the passenger seat of my Tudor and drove him around town. When we got him home he was filled with enthusiasm recalling for great grand kids when such cars were the norm when he was a kid. Little things.

I drove to the supermarket the day after Christmas and when I returned there was an elderly gentleman accompanied by his assistant. She told me he hadn’t seen this kind of car since he was a boy and it brought back thoughts of people long passed. When I responded to his question that the car was from 1930, he grinned and said he was 89 years old. He spoke quietly and clearly, and I saw a distinct sparkle in his eyes. Then off he walked with his assistant.

Years ago a friend and I were having lunch here in town at a little diner,and we were both driving our A's.A little bus load of seniors on a trip pulled in,and unloaded next to our A's.They were all looking,but one old boy seemed to know what he was talking about.Turns out he had worked for Ford when the A's were still fairly new.He was pointing out details,all factual,and then knocked on my front fenders with his knuckles.He was raving,real steel! No plastic s--t here!My friend asked if I was going to pee in his wheaties,he was knocking on fiberglass fenders.No need to spoil their fun by correcting him for no good reason.
