I got a couple camshafts in a load of stuff. I’m sure they’re for early motors but I’m not sure why the noses are different. Hopefully the pics are adequate……..

The way I understand it, the short nose on the left is for a 59A type engine and the long nose is for a pre war 78 or 81A engine. I just had my 1937 21 stud rebuilt and the camshaft was replaced with the short nose camshaft and I had to get a button (drive adapter) to connect my helmet distributor to the cam nose.

Short nose is used with the crab distributor.

Or earlier 3 bolt distributors if you use 3 bolt timing cover and a button adapter.

OK, got it!….Thanks guys!…..I see what looks like “21A” on the one with the short nose…..I’ll put a tag on them…….Mark
