1956 Fairlane turning radius? Hey guys! The Fairlane Club Sedan that I acquired last fall has had a Granada disc brake conversion by some previous owner. I recently got this car on the road and noticed that the turning radius seems shorter than that of other 50's Ford's that I have owned in the past. Is this because of the Granada spindles? Thanks in advance! F F

Re: 1956 Fairlane turning radius? Has the steering been modified? Many folks have installed a mid 80s GM small car rack and pinion. They infamously reduce the turn radius.

Re: 1956 Fairlane turning radius? I #$%@ed up, as above I stated that the radius was "shorter". Thats incorrect, it is actually longer or wider, than other cars that I've owned. It's got the stock box, still. I just modified the "spindle turning stops" on the lower a-frames so the spindle's turn further, without "jamming" the steering box. All set, now! F F

Re: 1956 Fairlane turning radius? I've heard just the opposite - that it makes the radius wider.

Re: 1956 Fairlane turning radius? Is it power steering. On my 57. I feel like my non power wagon has a tighter radius than my power steering hardtop.
