Another Mercury Drive

Had the 52 Merc out for another drive yesterday evening. Points set to 26 degrees dwell which is close to Van Pelt's figure of 28. Pretty sure the intermittent cutting out at cruising speed is more carb related than ignition but I'm not going to open that up until the off season. Scenery was pretty good for some pics and video. https://youtu.be/hZw_6yPbl6M

Ralph G,

Do that same run three days in a row and on the third day I will bet you find if runs perfectialy. See if you can get her up to around 60 mph for a bit. Do like some might say, "drive it like you stole it"! Good to see the old gal again.

Love where you temp gauge sites (right ion the middle) mine sites at the 3/4 mark, but I know it is not that hot, since I also have a another gouge in it and it is running at around 160.

I have one of those hand held laser pointer type temperature readers I keep meaning to try out on the flathead. It was a cool evening probably less than 70 degrees. I was up to 60 mph briefly in that mile and a half of pavement.

I too have one of those. It confirms that the engine is not over heating. I have been trying to figure out how to get the gauge to read correctly. I have replaced numerous times to not avail.
