I think it should be against the law to butcher up a nice original "A" into a 'hot' rod. Just my 2 cents....

And the Hot Rod guys are probably saying it should be against the law to restore them to original.:)

Nice car, lots of looky-lous,,, if it sells for that money that was a heck of a good buy, for a '28-'29 Roadster.

30-31's bring more cash

at the price they are asking, chances are good that it will become a rod.

Which came first - the chicken or the egg? In our case, the question is - the restorer or the hot rodder? So, who's stepping on whose toes here, if the car goes to a restorer or to a hot rodder??? :) The boys over on the HAMB website may have a different answer than how we'd respond over here!

Whoever buys it will become the owner. As the owner they can do what they want with their property. Turn a $9,500 car into a 30-40,000 hot rod or a 15-25,000 restoration. In today's world each will take about the same out of pocket expense.

I’m surprised it hasn’t sold yet.

Re: cheap deal in Cali.........

Here on the east coast the market is flooded with nice A's. A nice older restoration of a 29 Roadster only brings $11-$13K. 30-31s Roadsters are bringing $13-16K
I have 3- 30/31 A's listed on market place and Craigslist priced to sell quickly and they won't move.

ah Wick, did you make a bad investment?

just kidding........

I have found As to sell very very slowly and the parts, nobody even wants them.

Re: cheap deal in Cali.........

there are plenty of solid rust free model and parts for sale in CA. Don't worry about hot roders cutting up model a Fords, that's in the past. Like some one said in this post it's getting hard to sell the cars and their parts. Unfortunately us model a owners are getting older and not that many young people don't have an interest in cars that aren't fast, no automatic transmission, air conditioning. Of course that's my opinion you may disagree.

castlenut, you forgot the radio/audio with 10 or more woofers, tweeters, speakers and boom boxes!

It’s a shame but that’s the destiny for many of these cars. Market is flooded with Model A’s & Model T’s. The black era T Market is sinking fast. There is a reason that you see so many chassis for sale . The local Hot Rod shops cull the body’s and sell the rest.

Was only couple years ago that I saw a nice restored 26 Roadster sell at Chickasaw, body was culled and chassis on the market place the following month.

All you can do is enjoy the cars your way

This car value topic comes up frequently. But I won’t let it take the wind out of my sails. I like and enjoy the Model A the way it is, even with a few warts. I think of it as a Time Machine or a bit of rolling history. I enjoy just chugging around on my back roads. I like them for what they are.
That ‘29 Roadster looks like a lot of fun per dollar to me.

Also heated steering wheels, heated seats, massaging seats, seat belts, air bags, built in infotainment with apple CarPlay. 360 cameras, Blind spot monitoring, active cruise control, lane centering, ABS, braking assist. I am sure there is more. Can’t blame young people for not wanting a Model A dinosaur. :)

And now, Model As are being easily converted into EV's. Happening a lot over here on the west coast. The policies strongly favor electric vehicles here. Can't wait to move away from this.
