40 Pickup Bumpers ? Are the front & rear bumpers the same on a 40 pickup, I know the brackets are different but what about the bumpers themselves ?
|
Re: 40 Pickup Bumpers ? From my own research there is no definite answer. They came with a front bumper and only came with a rear bumper in the states that required a rear bumper. Dealers put rear bumpers on as did fab shops for the owner. So I can say yes, no, maybe and perhaps.

Re: 40 Pickup Bumpers ? There is in fact a definitive answer. The rear bumper was optional. The rear bars as the original poster had surmised are different than the passenger car.
The bumper bar for the front is the same as the passenger car, either front or rear. The rear bumper bar for the PU is unique. It has much less of a contour than the passenger car version and the spacing for the bumper bolts are different as well. Under no circumstance were bumper guards (bumperettes) installed on the rear. There was a guy on eBay about six weeks ago that was advertising the bar and irons for $50. He had them listed very incorrectly. He would not ship. Wouldn't even consider it. The eBay listing has ended but I did manage to find it. The seller is ELVIS43. The item number was 357134618275. You can find this doing an "advanced search". I see now that he had changed the ad to show what it really is after I had told him. Perhaps you can talk him into shipping it. Or, he has offered to deliver to Hershey. |
Re: 40 Pickup Bumpers ? As Mike said, the rear bumper for the pickup was an option. However that rear bumper bar is the same as a 40 station wagon rear. I looked for I don't know how many years before I found one at Hershey for my wagon. It is flatter and the mounting holes are different than the garden variety front/rear passenger car bumper.
Good luck finding one as well as the brackets. |
Re: 40 Pickup Bumpers ? Drake repopped the brackets but no doubt is out of stock now. Perhaps a different vender may have them???

Re: 40 Pickup Bumpers ? Anybody know if 40 PU bumpers & REAR brackets are the same as 42 to 47 bumpers & rear brackets?
|
Re: 40 Pickup Bumpers ? Off the top of my head I would say no. The 42 thru 7 is a ladder frame not an X member.

Re: 40 Pickup Bumpers ? Sorry to inquire? Difference between ladder frame & X member?
