Ensure you have the bushing installed at the top of the light rod. Without it, the light switch will turn as you suggest https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/p...7840&cat=41749

Also it sounds like you may have the spider in the incorrect position. The new spiders are junk. They are stamped and the clip does not fit like an original (black one).

It could also be that the horn/light switch rod is bent and binding in the steering column. How easy is it to turn the switch on or off with the steering wheel not moving?

If the F-100 box came from Randy it should have a new light rod included.

I have installed six F1`s from Randy and never ordered them with the horn rod. the reproduction horn rods are a little bigger OD
you need to make sure the horn rod is Not bent. also, the top of the horn rod can rub inside the steering wheel.

Hmmm, maybe since we picked it up at his shop? Not sure, just know there was a new horn rod. Randy makes them.

I indeed did get it from Randy but it did not come with a new rod. I spoke with him today and he touched on the fact of the bushing at the top of the tube the wheel fits on. so it back to the job of taking the spider off and putting in the bushing .Also the wheel will hit the handle when i turn the wheel so i guess its a missing bushing Thanks to all of you guys i am headed to a successful job. FORD BARN is the best TNX RAY

We only provide a light / horn rod on our 7 tooth conversions. The original one is not the right length for the conversion. We also provide them when a customer is missing one or needs a new one. Randy

Thanks Randy for clearing that up. Yes, the one we got is for a '29 PU that had a 7 tooth, working great!
