I would think so as well. Looks like the lower pan acts as a mount of some sort or this was for a marine application.

Looks like a crude casting looking at the mating of the pan and the base 3/4's the way up the pan.

UP FOR SALE IS A FORD FLATHEAD STATIONARY ENGINE ALUMINUM CRANKCASE OIL PAN.
THIS HAD A '37 21 STUD TRUCK ENGINE BOLTED ONTO IT. FITS MANY OTHER YEARS BUT CHECK FIRST.
HOLDS 3+ GALLONS OF OIL. NOT SURE THE MAKER BUT WAS WITH A FUNK IN/OUT TRANSMISSION. WITH DIPSTICK AND OIL PUMP. USE IT TO POWER YOUR VINTAGE SAWMILL, GENERATOR, OR STATIONARY DISPLAY. INSANELY RARE!
APPROX. 60 LBS. & 30"L X 22"W X 14"H

It would make a very cool enging display stand, especially polished!

Here is a French military"cargo" alu oil pan.The Cargo was like the 59A.I had 6 of these a few yrs ago and they went like hotcakes.They also had them for the V8 60 in the 1950 Vedettes,last 2 pics.

I saw an oil pan like the ebay one at the Lone Star Roundup swap meet a bit over a year ago. It was for installing a flathead in a boat. I don't think it sold.
