for sale. can they be used to paint a car?

As posted you need the base for mix the tints, but more important, you need the formulas for the colors, the scale to measure the tint, and the proper shaker equipment to mix the final coating.

A couple hundred gallons of tint is enough for 1,000s upon 1,000s of gallons of base.

My guess is you need to know the type of tints you have before mixing it with automotive type paint bases. The question to have answered is are they for solvent based polymer sytems or water based polymers. I don't know the answer to this question but checking with a paint expert or paint store would be my next move.

Centuri is an old paint that I really liked. It is def oil based. believe Dupont made it.

'Centari' was an acrylic enamel requiring a catalyst, made by DuPont 20 years ago.

In addition to the tints, you need the necessary 'binders' and 'driers' to create the finished paint. This assumes a questionable shelf life of unopened cans AND how have they been stored. If exposed to harsh temperature changes, you've now got something similar to roofing tar.

Assuming you can find the correct reducers, your 'concoction' might be sprayable and dry, but fail in durability.

Tints come in different strengths of pigment color. They are used as a way to mix specific colors from the primary colors that are the largest volume in a mix. Basic primaries are just yellow, red, and blue but white and black are also used to affect the gray scale in a mix. Aluminum or silver is also used. A lot of folks think bright white or mixing white when they think of it but there can be a thousand shades of white depending on the tinting additives. Sometimes, only a drop of a particular tint added to a quart of material can have a profound change to the overall color of the mix.

I painted tail rotor blades for helicopters for many years and I used various brands of epoxy paint. The last batch I purchased was a red tinted clear since that was the only way I could get it at the time. It took about 6-coats before I couldn't see through it anymore.

Centari top coat 5.0 VOC is still available from Axalta so it depends on the name on the container. Dupont sold the paint finish branch a long time ago and paints don't store well for long periods of time so I wouldn't recommend a container marked with the Dupont name. It would be too old to be reliable.
