Cast Drums Question to the group here.
I am planning on getting the cast drums for my car. My question is, where/how do I get the lugs swedged into the new drums/hubs. I do not have a press, nor do I have access to one that I can think of. Could I possibly order from my normal supplier (Snyders) and see if they can swedge them in for me? Dave |
Re: Cast Drums You can purchase cast iron drums with hubs already installed. Consult your local Model "A" sop / parts dealer.

Re: Cast Drums Give Randy a call. He is the Model A brake expert. His pricing is also very good.

Re: Cast Drums I worked on a car that had a couple of the studs tack welded in. Of course they were loose. So I had to have new studs pressed in. I bought the right tool and found a local auto parts dealer who had a shop in the back with a press large enough to do the job. I forget how much force is needed but it is on the order of 8 tons. Your best bet is Randy Gross as Dick M said. He can turn the drums and fit the shoes too.

Re: Cast Drums My 12 ton press worked, put an impact socket of proper size under the stud to keep from bending the drum.
