1959 Ford Radiator and fan problems Hi all, I would like some guidance on what is going on, I had to change the water pump twice and the radiator because the pump shaft moved forward and broke the radiator.
I wonder why this is happening? can anyone tell me how to be sure the fan is balanced correctly or how to check it?' I need an 18" fan blade 5 or 6 blades for a 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie 332. |
Re: 1959 Ford Radiator and fan problems Did the shaft on the pump move out that far? Sounds like a long ways. Or did it just “happen” with no obvious reason why. The reason I ask, is I’ve seen badly deteriorated motor mounts allow the engine to shift under the right load. Typically braking.
Where did the replace pumps come from, and how long did they last? |
Re: 1959 Ford Radiator and fan problems First, welcome to the Ford Barn. Is this a new problem that just popped up on a car you have had for years, or is it a car you recently purchased & am not familiar with? How close is your fan to the radiator? Your fan should be 1-1.5 in. from the radiator. Is the water pump shaft really coming out that far to hit the radiator? Never heard of that before, but I guess there is a first time for everything!
