Left rear brake drag

My left rear brakes drag and get real hot. I took the drum off and the spot on the leading and tailing edge looks like the spot on the shoes. I have a 1930 tudor all new break parts. Could l use a file to chamfer the front and back edges?..Vern

First, take the shoes off and lay them in the drum to see if there is a match to the radii. If not, sand the shoe linings until they match the drum. You can use a belt sander or glue 80 grid sand paper to the drum and move the shoes inside the drums. The belt sander will also be a good tool to add the chamfers. Make sure everything is right with the brake such as the cam and wheels. I assume you have the adjuster all the way out.

What do you mean by having the adjuster all the way out?

Hello, I think he is referring to the square adjuster on the cone shaped part that has slots on it to move the anglular part that attaches to the brake shoe , that they should be backed out all the way .

Yup I have the adjuster all the way out. Now I’m doing what you recommend and sanding the shoes in the drum. Thanks I’m sure it will work.
