I have been a member over on the HAMB for a while, but I just signed up over here on this side. Picked up a 1961 Starliner the other day. Just a project, but one of my dreamcars.

Thanks, I have always liked tthe Starliners. I also have a very mild custom 63' Galaxie 500 2 door boxtop.

Always liked the '63 "boxtop" Galaxie's as well. I know they are the same overall length as the '63.5 fastback, but they just look shorter, to me.

And plans for the Starliner? Those came with an FE didn’t they?

Re: New to FordBarn, new project: 61' Starliner

Ford built those in 60 & 61 and I could never figure out why they stopped. They were excellent cars and larger FE motors easily replace a 352 if so equipped. The 63 1/2 and 64 were used as NASCAR racers with excellent results till 65 when they banned the 427 cammer motors. 1962 was not a good year for fastback hardtop. The T-bird was the only type in 62.

Re: New to FordBarn, new project: 61' Starliner

So, it came factory with a 352, but the engine and trans are long gone. The car is actually quite solid in every place exept the trunk pan. It was a factory blue paint, blue interior car, but was changed to red interior at some point.
My plans are a 390 with a 4 speed, white paint with red interior. As for now, im in the gathering stage, i will start building it as the parts list dwindles down

Re: New to FordBarn, new project: 61' Starliner

Some have the 292 with a T86 3-speed with overdrive. The other Gallaxie cars in those years could be donor cars for whatever motor & trans you want in it. The Data plate should tell what it was originally equipped with. If it has a 10-inch rear axle, then it's good to go for anything. Excuse my blunder. I meant 9-inch.

Re: New to FordBarn, new project: 61' Starliner

That car would have left the factory w/a 9 in. rear axle, regardless of what engine it had originally. Unless of coarse, that's long gone too.

Sounds like a great plan. Good luck, espressos with parts.

What’s your general location?

Data plate shows blue on blue, 352, auto, 3:50 gear non posi. Some one already swapped in some"4 speed pedals" ha ha.
