1939 Deluxe front inner fender

Could someone let me know if the front mounting bracket (90 degree) that bolts to the frame horn is headed the right way toward the tire or is it the bracket mounting hole supposed to head toward the engine. Second guessing myself, I guess. This is the driver's side. Thanks

If memory serves, the way you have it is the only way it'll line up with the frame rail. This bracket was used very early in production and after finding that the pan cracked in short order, Ford changed the design. That little bracket was originally tack welded to the pan.
As a side note of sorts; if those are reproduction pans, you are best served to test fit them to both the fender and body / fender assembly to the body & grille prior to paint.
Thye repros were nice but I'd never had a single one fit correctly.

Ok Kube thank you again (still) for the help and advice.

on my 39 the bolts holding the brackets were used with springs like the radiator. pan was welded from previous cracks.

Originally the fasteners to the frame rail were simply a hex head bolt, split type lock washer and hex nut.
