40 Radio and Heater Hook-up I had my radio upgraded to am/fm/bluetooth inside the stock radio, 6 volt positive ground. It still has just one wire and it’s connected to the left side of the circuit breaker. With the ignition off, the radio works. With the ignition on, it works. Any ideas? I guess I could connect it to the ignition switch. Was it originally connected at the circuit breaker because of suppression issues?
Heater: I have a new harness with the short green wire with a spade end on it. That gets grounded. Where does the long one go? Kube’s book says it goes to the ignition terminal with the red black tracer wire. I’m red green color blind. Does it go on the “com” or “gage” terminal? Thanks. |

Re: 40 Radio and Heater Hook-up Looking at the wiring diagram the ignition switch only controls power to the ignition coil and instruments.

The BR wire is the IGN terminal that has the wire going to the ignition resistor, NOT the com or the gauge terminal.
Yes the radio can work with the engine ON or OFF. The left side of the circuit breaker is the battery power side, a convenient source of power before the power goes through the circuit breaker this is why the radio has it's own fuse in the power wire. |

Re: 40 Radio and Heater Hook-up Glenn, THANKS for posting that heater switch wiring pictorial.

Re: 40 Radio and Heater Hook-up The heater was wired as depicted in the diagram so it can't operate with the ignition off.
