Rocker-how far should I cut? 1 Attachment(s)
Replacing the top of the rocker due to everyone’s favorite chemical reaction. Question:how far can/should I cut out of the top of the rocker before I have to brace the door frame? Here is my plan:
1) replace the lip of the inner rocker panel. 2) cut the top off of the rocker completely. And then place half of the top back on-weld and then paint the inside. I have a gun with a long flexible tube for this. Put the other half of the top on and paint the rest. Will this work or do I need brace the door? I can put a jack under the rocker frame to stabilize it if need be. Thanks, Mike |

From what I see, you should be fine. This is what I had to remove on the pass side. I did however, remove the door to take weight off the A pillar.

While it was off, I POR-15'd the inside of the rusty rocker. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1749664865 https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1749664865 https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1749664865 |
Re: Rocker-how far should I cut? OK, I have two scissor jacks that I can use to support the rocker and the door at the hinges. Once the top comes off I plan to quickly as I can paint it so I can minimize the stress on it. Thanks, for the links I will check them out.
