'Sorry - Another Fordor question about windlace Actually, TWO questions...
(1) 1929 Murray Town Sedan: the interior kit instructions specify that the front door windlace is to be installed down the front edge of the door. When I do this, the door is all but impossible to close without slamming it from the outside. No way could someone pull the door shut from the inside. The door bounces back towards the outside. I know some body styles have the front door windlace attached to the front door pillar, which makes more sense to me with less interference between the door and the door jamb. For those of you with 1929-early 1931 three-window Fordors/Town Sedans, where is this windlace mounted in your cars - on the door or down the front pillar? A photo or two would be helpful. (2) Even after chasing through multiple pages in a site search, I cannot find any guidance about how the bottom rubber seal is mounted on the doors on this body style. There are no clips or holes for same in the doors, as this is a wooden-bodied sedan, including the door frames. The type of rubber seal sent to me has a "U-channel" and a wide flat lip. Does this wide flat part go under the door panel or does the U-channel slip over the bottom of the panel, essentially sandwiching around the door panel? Part of that U-channel would then be exposed with the other side behind the panel. Jeez, these Town Sedans are a lot more complicated than you might think, as I have painfully discovered. Marshall |
Re: 'Sorry - Another Fordor question about windlace I don't know if this helps, but I removed the rubber hose in the windlace and replaced it with surgical tubing which is much softer. That eliminated the problem your are experiencing for me.

Marshall, My 1930 Briggs Town Sedan windlace is installed on the leading edge of the front door. Not the best but I hope the pictures help. I can uncover the car tomorrow to make it lighter if you wish.

Re: 'Sorry - Another Fordor question about windlace M - in my disassembly notes for my ‘30 Murray I have that the windlace is installed on the door under the side panel, presumably also under the window reveal. Same as Y-B.

Re: 'Sorry - Another Fordor question about windlace See my post in the post by Afordman31 about the "Windshield Frame."

Re: 'Sorry - Another Fordor question about windlace Forgot yesterday - lower door seal. My notes show that the flat portion is nailed to the inside of the lower door frame, under the carpet strip and under the door panel. I’ll send you that on email.
