Horn stuck on

Hey everyone,So last year I replaced the horn rod on my ‘30 Tudor.
Everything went well with no issues. Few months later rhe horn started to blow now and again when I’d turn the wheel. I noticed the steering box was a bit loose so I tightened it. Now the horn blows when I turn the light switch on and off. Took the light switch on and off don’t see anything wrong in their. Any ideas where I may be going wrong?

My guess is the insulation on the wire within the horn rod could have cracked or chafed and the bare wire is grounding out to the horn rod.

When my horn acted like that, I discovered that the nut holding the steering wheel onto the steering shaft, was backing out, causing it to press against the light switch, thus making contact with the horn button.

I’ll have to see if the nut loosened up. The wheel feels fine odd thing is I opened the light switch. I pressed in on the lower light contact and wrapped a zip tie aroumd it so it can’t go all the way up. This cured my problem. Can it be that the previous owner had the wrong horn rod installed and I went and replaced it? Maybe it’s too long? I don’t remember having this issue after I replaced it… It happened months after.

It could also be that the button on the bottom of the horn rod is worn and causing a short. On my car I had to re solder it.

I put a piece of shrink tubing around the central horn spring contact so it doesn't short to the upper rotating plate in the switch.
