Plexiglass 1954 ford crestline glass top removal

I have searched everywhere with no luck on how to remove the roof insert. I see lots of bolts and retaining clips. I need to know any pitfalls in taking one apart. Gasket and stainless are available for reassembly.

It is most likely going to be found in the 1954 FORD BODY WORKSHOP MANUAL.

You're on the right track, grab the '54 Ford Body Manual. It's your best bet.

The stainless snaps off the retaining straps. Under the stainless are the bolts that hold the straps and the seal down. I assume you have the interior trim pieces removed. You can see the nut plates from the bottom side. I used a pair of cargo straps to pull the new glass down into place after putting a protective cover on the plexiglass. I also used a method to reinstall the straps that was recommended by a member of another forum. If installation seems to be more than you bargained for I'll pass on what I was advised to do.

Makes total sense for installing the glass. I am trying to take it apart. I see all the clips and fasteners you are talking about, as there is no headliner.

My question is, how do you get the stainless trim off? Do you cut the rubber around the stainless edge to free the stainless from the rubber, and then use a flat-blade screwdriver to gently pry off the stainless from the clips underneath?

Pry the corners off first. The long strips of stainless pop off. You can cut the rubber away but it isn't necessary. In the picture the corroded piece is an original. On either side of the hole is a wing for lack of a better term. That is what the stainless attaches to.
