wiring generator 1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
which wire goes where on the generator? They had built a 12v alternator on it, I built this generator back on but I have no idea how to connect the wires.:D |
Re: wiring generator 1 Attachment(s)
They both go to the cut-out output stud.

Re: wiring generator It looks like you have the cutout on in the correct orientation. Good. If it is mechanical it will not care whether the car is negative or positive ground. If it has the diode in it then it will not work if it is the wrong polarity. Plus, whether mechanical or electronic, it will care if it is not the right voltage.

Re: wiring generator To clarify, an original cutout relay coil will burn out at 12 volts. Unless converting back to 6 volts you will need a diode cutout of the correct polarity.
|
Re: wiring generator The cutout is mounted correctly for that '29 style generator. I concur with 1955CJ5 on the wiring. BTW, that is a cheap repro cutout. Good on ya for returning to a generator.

Re: wiring generator If the ammeter goes very negative when you hook up the wires, then the polarity of the cutout (diode) is wrong. If this happens, remove the wire quickly so that the generator is not damaged and the battery is not discharged.
