Where does it mount?? Hi. I have a question. I have a original hand brake for a 1937 Tudor Sedan. Does anyone have a picture of where it mounts under the dash? Thanks

Re: Where does it mount?? Should mount under dash between the dash and the firewall.

Re: Where does it mount?? I lined it up with a couple of holes I found under the dash, but then the front sticks out by 4" There is also no holes in the dash for mounting the handle. The hand brake was laying on the floor in a pile of other parts when I bought the car 20 years ago. I would like to use it again.

Re: Where does it mount?? I found a couple of holes on the firewall that might work, but then the other end sticks out by 4". If I could see a picture or 2 of where it mounts. It sure would help. Thanks

Re: Where does it mount?? The handle mounts to the bracket that in turn mounts to the dash and firewall. Sorry I don't have a photo or diagram.

Found this on Classic Cars.

Re: Where does it mount?? I can bolt it to the top of the firewall, but if there was a bracket that goes under the dash. Well that is long gone. The only way to hold it down there now would be to use a hose clamp that would go around a steel square conduit that was put in before I bought the car.

Re: Where does it mount?? Thanks for the picture. Now on the handle end. Where under the dash would that bolt to? See the person I bought the car from years ago was going to build a gasser. Under the dash most everything was missing except for the square steel conduit that runs from one end of the dash to the other. I can feel under the dash, and there is the lights switch, that long steel tube and nothing. I can feel the end of the bracket, but nothing to bolt it to.

Re: Where does it mount?? It will bolt to the bottom lip of the dash. Look for two holes there.

Re: Where does it mount?? It would help if you got in from the passenger's side and took pictures of the back of the dash and the bracket you have which doesn't appear to be for a '37.

Re: Where does it mount?? There are no holes, but maybe I could rig something up to hold that bracket tight. Thanks

Re: Where does it mount?? Pictures please.
There may be a bracket spot welded to the back of the dash or the mounting is closer to the top edge of the dash. I have a '40 which is different. |
Re: Where does it mount?? The more I look at this, it seems that the dash mount is near the top of the dash to an inside bracket there.

Re: Where does it mount?? I bolted it to the firewall. there is nothing on the other end, but it is holding tight. I am going to replace the bolts I have now with fine bolts and star washers. Thanks

Re: Where does it mount?? The bottom end shown above is bolted to the firewall and maybe the top should be too.
Again, pictures needed and you may not have a '37 bracket. It doesn't look so to me. Did you miss this link? https://www.ebay.com/itm/18637821761...Bk9SR6bt6Z7SZQ |
Re: Where does it mount?? TJ has it right, the top mounts on a flange of metal behind the upper left corner of the dash. The flange of metal goes down about 5 inches and includes the hole for attaching the lower corner of the dash board.
