1939 Woody tailgate bumpers

Does anyone have a picture of the proper way to mount the rubber bumpers that are fastened to the tailgate latch? There is a tapered pin that aligns the tailagte when it's closed & these bumpers cushion the closure. I currently have them between the pin & the latch but this doesn't seem right as it keeps the pin from locking into the adjustment notches for the pin if the bumper is behind the pin.

Here's a blowup from a picture I had saved - assuming yours is the same? I take it that it seems the rubber is preventing proper latching. Very common for reproduction rubber parts to need some "tuning" before they serve their purpose. Would grinding some off the backside off of the rubber allow easy closure and latching without affecting anything else significantly?

Thanks for the pictures guys. If I see things right, it looks like the notch in the rubber is facing away from the pin. I have put mine on with the pin set into the notch, I wonder if you had glued the rubber on?

That looks like a Kubric job. All the screwheads are lined up.
