Has anyone installed a rear bumper on their Model A station wagon?

I'd love to see pictures of how it was done.
Regards, Neil

Neil, I have a customer that we are restoring their 150B that asked me the same question. A rear bumper installed onto this type of vehicle is only a false sense of security IMO. Something of significance is needed to keep the bumper from riding up or under the object hitting it. Unfortunately, a 150 series body is really nothing more than a house of cards screwed together, and is likely the weakest and most unprotective body that Ford offered as far as safety is concerned.

Thank you Brent and Ronn for your comments. I recently sold all my Model As except for my 29 station wagon. I am in the process of restoring the running gear but I am going to keep the body with its current patina. I have a light weight Model A trailer that I usually take to antique swap meets about twice a year. I'd like to be able to tow it with the wagon, hense wanting to put on a rear bumper type trailer hitch.

I don't necessary need the bumper, but do want some type of hitch set up.

Don't the Station Wagon Side Curtains slide under the back for storage? If you install a bumber I don'rt think you could use that feature.

Not sure I would want to hook a trailer to a Model A Bumper, pretty flexible. In the back of the Restorer and The Model A News Wagner Products advertises a Receiver Hitch that might fill your needs.

Dennis,
Thanks for the reminder of the side curtain box. It is missing on my A.

I.looked under my car after work today. The wood sills would prevent the use of the rear bumper brackets. It seems that I need to forget about installing a rear bumper.

I installed a bumper on my huckster. But do not have pictures at this time. Will try to get some. I think I made a bracket of some kind.
