Re: Water Temp Gauge repair Thanks for that info. I've been wondering as well.

Re: Water Temp Gauge repair You should know that the original red fluid is no longer available, and the replacement fluid fades to clear liquid in time. It might be worth searching for an original in working condition, even though the cost would be outrageous.

"Depending" on who you buy your fluid from this "could" be true.....OR "NOT". I bought mine from Straight Eight (parts suppliers for Duesenberg. Packards etc etc, TRUE Classics) it was expensive ($35ish a vial) BUT everything I read of their fluid were testimonies of 10+ years and still "red". I know David Renner at Renner's corner also sells it, I have NO experience with his so a call to him might be worth the effort. |
Re: Water Temp Gauge repair I am guessing the fluid is not ether. I repaired my temp gauge on a Dodge myself twice. It involves splicing a new bulb and copper line onto you gauge's copper line. Still working 4 years or so later

Re: Water Temp Gauge repair I have several rebuilt ones from the late Rudolph Faltermeir with faded liquid as well as some NOS originals. The ones I have are ‘37 up. I don’t have any ‘35/6 left. You may have to change the face depending on your year. Contact me at [email protected] if interested.

Re: Water Temp Gauge repair Williamson's Instruments in Arkansas. is another. He claims his will not fade. What year car is the temp gauge for? I used Wolf a few yrs ago and his did not fade but not as bright red as original.

Re: Water Temp Gauge repair He has hot rod Stewart Warner gauges, not original.
